A difficult mountain component

Physical setting

ICOMOS identifies Navizaršāh as one of the components where rock detachment and soil instability have been observed. The evaluation also notes that architectural remains at the associated fortifications are generally less preserved than at Alamut Castle. [HSKRC-SRC-0012]

Access is not routine

ICOMOS specifically names Navizaršāh, Širkūh and Ilān as components presenting significant physical and logistical challenges for general visitors. It recommends carefully managed access, safety measures and alternative forms of interpretation where appropriate. [HSKRC-SRC-0012]

Historical Context

Read as part of the Alamut network

The strongest verified interpretation of Navizaršāh is relational: it belongs to the coordinated defensive landscape centred on Alamut. UNESCO describes the wider network as strategically positioned in the Alborz Mountains and functioning as refuge as well as a political, military, scholarly and cultural system during the Alamut period. HSKRC does not assign a precise construction date, individual founder or specialised function to Navizaršāh here unless a source directly supports that claim. [HSKRC-SRC-0009]

Research rule: absence of a verified detail is not filled with legend or repetition from unsourced tourism summaries.
